There is something irresistibly captivating about red velvet cookies—the perfect combination of flavor, texture, and visual appeal. As I talk about my new red velvet cookie recipe, prepare to dive into a world of mouth-watering goodness! These cookies are not only striking in color but also have a delightful, cakey, gooey consistency that will leave you enchanted and reaching for another!
I sat down the other day and did some thinking - scary, I know. But with more orders coming in, and the big things I have in the works (don't worry, I'll share more soon!) I figured it would be a great idea to expand my cookie horizons. I want to offer more flavors, more variety, so I decided to start with a classic - red velvet! Hate me if you want, I have never been a fan of red velvet UNTIL I made my very own and finally decided it's not so bad. It's not my favorite, but it is good and deserves some of the praise it gets! AND THEN I made these cookies, and my goodness, are they a hit! I handcrafted this recipe myself. It still needs a little work, but the first batch was an absolute success!
I used my undeniable chocolate chip cookie recipe, compared it to my red velvet cake recipe, and made my very own red velvet cookie recipe! Figuring it all out was a little new to me, but I'm already excited to make another recipe! I know they're not all going to be winners on the first go around like these were, but this batch gave me some much-needed confidence! To get started, I wrote out the ingredients to each recipe and compared the similarities. I kept in mind what makes a red velvet cake so classic. I wanted to keep the significance of the red velvet, the tang, the color, and the ooey-gooey, rich decadence of a cookie. I'm not quite ready to share my recipe yet. It is still under development. I was just so excited to share the story already! It isn't very often that one of my new recipes turns out so well, and on the first try, no less!
I've tried this new technique where I bake cookies at 375 degrees Fahrenheit instead of 350, and it is a game-changer! I saw a video of a baker doing this- and I am so sorry I don't have her handle to give her credit, I wish I did- but I have tested it with all my cookies, and it has yet to fail! However, I didn't try both temperatures with the red velvets. I wanted a consistent temperature to test these cookies since they were new. Once I get the recipe totally foolproof, then I will test the temperature differences. I may not be a professional yet, but I have a process, and if you don't know by now, consistency is key!
I will keep you all posted on the next batch of red velvet cookies and all the new cookies to come after! My idea book is full, and I am ecstatic to get to baking them all! Many new recipes are on the way, and more than just cookies! I will leave you with that cliffhanger on this short read today. This baker needs some sleep!
